With an insane amount of work each day, all Prep students have to manage time down to each minute. One popular way to do this is by having food delivered their doorsteps. With options such as DoorDash, Uber Eats, and Grub Hub, access to restaurant quality food has never been easier. However, many people doubt the quality of delivered food, with some vid- eos going viral on social media with destroyed, half-eaten, or even rotten meals. We set out to test the quality of delivery and see if the ten minute drive up the Pike is worth it.
Our investigation started with an in person test of the Rockville Pike Chick-Fil-A. It was a wonderful experience. For starters, the service was fabulous, the cashier was incredi- bly beautiful, and the food itself matched the quality we come to expect from Chick. It was reminiscent of John Glennon’s legendary speech about the Ritz Carlton; this fast food estab- lishment has created an environment where every worker, no matter their role, was in- vested in a culture of hospitality. The only thing missing was a pineapple.
This culture was apparent in the food. Every sip of my shake tasted like the heartfelt love of a thousand southern mothers. The chick- en nuggets were salted by tears of passion and the potatoes were fried with a burning desire to satiate the customer. For the first time in my life, I felt love.
After the euphoria of our in person Chick-Fil-A visit, we unfortunately returned back to Georgetown Prep to door dash the same exact order.
This meal was an act of domestic terror- ism. First of all, the Uber Eats had a 2-dollar delivery fee (keep in mind this Chick is 2 miles away from our school). Not only that but this driver must have taken a detour onto Tucker- man Lane and proceeded to hold a steady 50 over those massive speed bumps because all the fries had been launched out of the container by the time the food got into our hands. Plus we happened to do this when it was 90 degrees outside, so our milkshakes sat in our mouths with the consistency of apple cider. Uber Eats is a scam for the quality, but if your time is really worth more than a good meal, you should con- sider it.
